Charles Leclerc: “Ferrari didn’t let me in” / Formula 1

Ferrari star Charles Leclerc is a welcome guest at Maranello. It wasn’t always like this – Monegasse, 25, recalls his first visit to the factory of the oldest GP team in the world.

Charles Leclerc has been battling for championship points for four years in Maranello’s red racer, and as one of two regular riders, last year’s world runner-up naturally also enjoys plenty of privileges at Maranello. . During his first visit to the Scuderia factory, however, he discovered another side to who he is today.

In a video from Ferrari team partner Shell, the 25-year-old from Monte Carlo recalled: “When I came here I couldn’t get in because I was about twelve at the time. I was there with my godfather Jules Bianchi, who was a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy junior team at the time.

“I asked him, ‘Please, can I come with you? He asked security at the entrance and they said, ‘No, we’re sorry, but we can’t accept people. from the outside'”, says the five-time winner of the GP, and immediately clarifies: “Even before that, I wanted a Ferrari Become a driver.”

The disappointment on closed goals did not change his big dream, which came true in 2019. On the contrary, as Leclerc reveals: “The fact that I stood in front of the entrance and could not see everything what was behind the gates only motivated me even more to work as hard as possible to one day get in to be cleared.”
