On May 28, 2023, the German national ice hockey team won the first World Cup medal since 1953 – a historic success. A week later – starting Sunday, 8:00 p.m. – MagentaSport will release “Silver Winner” – the cinematic and emotional journey with a historic world champion who worked as a team world champion. The film reflects: these guys, this team spirit, also shows their cooperation beyond the surface of the ice – for example in the icy lake, when almost the whole troop gets into the water for team building. Mo Seider puts it this way: “We are one big family”.
Conclusion: Only record world champion Canada can stop this German team in the final. Before that dominated the USA in the semi-finals and the eternal rival Switzerland in the quarter-finals. Before and at the start of the World Cup, there is still skepticism. Subdued performances in friendlies, big stars cancel each other out – reaching the quarter-finals is the measure of all things under new national coach Harold Kreis. And then the team loses the first three group matches. Nevertheless, something is growing in the team. A common will. This team around giants of mentality like Mathias Niederberger, Moritz Müller, Nico Sturm, Marcel Noebels and Moritz Seider feels: there is not much missing, we can and we want to beat the best teams! We want more!
“Silver winner! – The historic DEB medal documentary accompanies the German team on its way to the top of the world. Half an hour of goosebumps on Sunday June 4, from 8 p.m. on all MagentaSport platforms.
