In KLM Premium Comfort in New York

Business travelers who can fly from Amsterdam have a new relaxed travel alternative. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is sending its new travel class to long-haul routes: KL641, the first flight with Premium Comfort, took off on August 27, 2022 from Amsterdam-Schiphol to New York-JFK. Tickets for all flights with the new travel class can now be booked in booking classes W, S and A. Flying Blue members earn twice as much XP as in Economy Class.

The new cabin will be available on Boeing 787-10 flights to New York-JFK, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Nairobi and Kilimanjaro/Dar es Salaam. Other destinations will be added over time as the Premium Comfort cabin will also be available on board the Boeing 787-9. By November 2023, KLM will equip all Boeing 787 and Boeing 777 with Premium Comfort.

Based on the Air France Premium Economy cabin, Premium Comfort cabin customers can select their seat in advance as a paid option (Paid Seat Selection). Flying Blue Platinum, Gold and Silver Elite members and corporate customers (excluding bluebiz customers) reserve their seats for free. In addition, standard seat selection applies, i.e. with Flex fares customers can choose their seat free of charge. These are displayed as chargeable before the ticket is issued. Passengers traveling to the United States, Canada or Mexico currently select the Premium Comfort seat for free.

On the ground
The Premium Comfort Class experience begins at the airport with a higher baggage allowance and SkyPriority service, which allows customers to use separate check-in counters and be among the first to board.

On board
In a small and quiet cabin with only 21 to 28 seats – separated from Economy Class and Business Class – Premium Comfort Class offers wider and more comfortable seats than Economy Class, with a spacing of more than 96 centimeters, 17 centimeters of extra legroom and 20 centimeters of recline. The new seats were designed by Collins Aerospace in collaboration with specialists from KLM Customer Experience. Apart from their sleek design and comfort features, they are also lighter than previous models. Each seat comes with complimentary noise-canceling headphones, a 13-inch screen for personal entertainment, and USB and 110V outlets for charging electronic devices. A premium pillow and high quality blanket are also in place.

Depending on the duration of the flight, passengers receive up to two meals and can choose between meat, fish and vegetarian menus. After the meal, KLM will serve them coffee, tea, liqueurs and ice cream, as well as a selection of the most popular snacks and cocktails hitherto served in Business Class between meals.

Premium Comfort class passengers can check in two pieces of baggage weighing 23 kilograms each free of charge and take two pieces of hand baggage and one accessory with a total weight of 18 kilograms into the cabin.
