A whole generation can sing songs like “I’m Like a Bird” or “Maneater”. No doubt: Nelly Furtado was one of the most famous and successful pop singers of the 2000s.
After completely retreating from the spotlight for the past five years, she celebrated her return to the stage this year – and has now surprised her fans with an intimate confession.
In an interview with the Fault store the 44-year-old revealed she was diagnosed with ADHD a year and a half ago.

“I think I’ve had it all my life, but playing instruments six days a week as a kid kept me in control,” said the Portuguese-Canadian songwriter.
In the meantime, the singer has found her own way of coping with the disease.

It’s good for her to work on choreography and go to the dance studio, revealed the mother of a now 19-year-old girl: “I notice that the discipline really helps my brain.”
Nelly Furtado finds it positive that she only learned of the diagnosis so late: “I think it’s good that I haven’t known for so long. I think I’m mature enough now not to react way too dramatic. I’m more looking for solutions.”
And the musician seems to have found it. Nelly’s fans also benefit from the fact that being productive helps her cope with her illness.
