The HPV vaccination has been recommended as a basic vaccination for girls and young women in Switzerland since 2007. Based on new scientific findings, vaccination is now also recommended for boys and men aged 11 to 26, preferably between 11 and 14 years, that is to say before the start of sexual activity. The HPV vaccine used in Switzerland is called GARDASIL® 9 and is given in two injections (three if the first dose is after the first sexual intercourse). With an efficacy of 99%, the vaccine reliably protects against HPV infections.‎

Vaccination experience shows that women who were vaccinated against HPV at age 12-13 were almost ten times less likely to develop cervical cancer. The vaccine is now routinely given to boys and girls in the United States, Canada, Australia and most of Europe. About 80 million people are vaccinated against HPV each year. There are practically no serious side effects or allergic reactions.

I would like to conclude with the important remark that it is always strongly recommended that vaccinated women participate in cervical cancer screening tests. Because in about 20% of diseases the reason is not HPV or HPV strains not covered by Gardasil.
