Who plays when? All Women’s World Cup 2023 matches at a glance

ARD and ZDF shared the transmission of the matches of the Women’s World Cup. Here you can find out everything you need to know: where the games are taking place, which ones are being broadcast live and when Germany is playing.

On July 20, 2023, the FIFA Women’s World Cup kicked off in Australia and New Zealand. The broadcast rights dispute between FIFA and TV stations had been dragging on for several months. Then FIFA President Gianni Infantino publicly threatened a blackout. It was avoided. Thanks to an agreement with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), ARD and ZDF now broadcast the entire World Cup live. You can find out how the two broadcasters split the matches here.

ARD and ZDF share live match coverage

In principle, ARD and ZDF alternate with broadcasting. Games with German participation (from July 24) will also be broadcast alternately. Every game broadcast on free-to-air TV can also sportstudio.de (ZDF) or on sportschau.de (ARD) can be followed live. Joyn Free Live Stream shows games on both channels.

Despite the agreement, not all games will air on free-to-air TV. For a long time there has been a struggle over transmission times: due to jet lag, many games start early in the morning, sometimes at night – one of the reasons why private providers such as DAZN, Sky and RTL have pulled out. In the case of less attractive schedules and pairs, ARD and ZDF broadcast exclusively live and not on linear television. For the matches on July 30 and August 2, ARD has not yet made a decision as to which matches will take place at the same time which will be broadcast live and which will be broadcast on linear.
